Common problem when you try to re-install XP on a recent Laptop. You start you installation but when you get to the point where you need to format the hard disc it cannot be seen by XP.
Solution:
Go to your BIOs change the Sata mode to the most primitive mode supported. Save to CMOS and restart the installation. You can revert your Sata Mode back once you have completed your installation. Some have tried the F6 key to try and install the driver but it never always works. This is the best way around the problem.
